Simms' Shelter Sunset- Barry McAdam
Atop an old lead mine on the seafront in Clontarf stands one of the most magical of the Simms' Shelters, designed to keep visitors dry in the rain. While many of Barry's works capture the sunset at its peak, this piece embraces the dreaminess of twilight. The last rays of the day illuminate the shelter and its simple concrete columns, creating a striking contrast against the Poolbeg Chimneys and Dublin port cranes in the distance. Hues of green and red complement the pink-filled clouds, evoking the evening's crepuscular charm.
