Poolbeg Lighthouse - Barry McAdam
Poolbeg lighthouse has stood at end of the South Bull Wall for over 200 years. In this piece Barry captures the lighthouse at sunset and the wall takes the view back to the Poolbeg chimneys frame this careful vertical composition. The pinks in the sky balance the strong red foreground and the rocks ground the lighthouse nicely into the sea. The drips and movement of the watercolour gives the sense of a blustery evening, which is familiar to all of us who have walked along the wall with the wind in our faces to the lighthouse.
