Enniskillen Island - Barry McAdam
“Forthill Park is one of my favourite places. I still remember when it was reopened in the 80s and I got to go up for the first time. It was like flying and my nerves were shot.
In painting this oil on canvas piece I set up a composition from above the monument. With drone footage now this perspective can be viewed, but at the time I painted this, it could only be imagined. I love perspective and this was a great challenge as I only had photos from below to base it on.
The view is largely as seen, but there is a lot of imagination added in. I was trying really hard to make it look believable and that the Lough and the Island looked real. I struggled with the sky for over a year. One day I tried to capture a changeable autumn day with rain coming from the west and it worked!”
